When I was at the cabin recently for one of my writing marathons, I needed to pick up some groceries. I noticed a sign at the checkout in the grocery store. It said, “Wednesdays are Seniors’ Days! Let us know if you are 55 or older and we’ll give you 10% off your entire order.” I love saving money, and I am 55 (and no older!) so I asked for the discount. It’s the very first time I’ve ever qualified! Afterwards, I wasn’t sure if I was pleased or not. The checkout clerk didn’t ask for proof of my age. I guess it must be policy to accept the customer’s word.
