Does your toddler have tummy issues?
It’s not uncommon for food sensitivities to start becoming obvious at this age. You might hear complaints about ‘tummy aches’ or see more burping than usual. Perhaps it shows up as constipation or diarrhea. Regardless, it needs addressing and solving.
The first, and most obvious, thing to do is keep a food and symptom diary for your child. You may see a pattern emerge quite quickly. Then again, you might have to do some food exclusions for a week or two to see what the culprits are.
If you child has a good mouthful of teeth, and if you feel he can chew tablets reliably without choking, you can try the following supplements. They are designed for children. If, on the other hand, you are not confident in your child’s ability to chew tablets well or safely you may want to crush these tablets.
Papaya Mint is a superb digestive enzyme. Sometimes the problem comes down to a lack of or poor quality of digestive enzymes in the body resulting in the incomplete breakdown of food. That allows fermentation to happen and that makes gas. The naturally occurring enzymes in Papaya Mint help to complete the digestion of foods and can reduce the amount of gas being produced.
Another simple supplement I’ve used to great benefit for toddlers with tummy issues is the acidophilus/bifidobacterium. It tastes good, and I find that even toddlers don’t seem to mind chewing on the capsules. It’s quite amazing the difference have a healthy complement of the right bacteria in the gut can make.
